10 Things I learned this semester…

1. We are all theologians.  Give it a try.  Even atheists have their theology.

2. Just keep listening, and be patient. Doctrine evolves.

3. There is a difference between the inspiration of Scripture and the inspiration of an author.

4. Inerrancy, authority, sufficiency and canonicity all first rest on the shoulders of inspiration.  If Scripture is not inspired…nothing else matters.

5. Words matter and more of them don’t necessarily bring clarity.

6. That it’s possible to gain credibility when you say “Im not sure” and admit that something confuses you too.

7. That it’s possible to have an endless stream of translations and each each of them be inerrant and infallible.

8. That I know that “the Bible is true because it says its true” is a circular argument and I’m just going to stop apologizing for that.

9. Postmodern isn’t what someone is, it’s what they aren’t anymore.

10. That Kate Turabian isn’t that bad once you get to know her.
