…walking in grace

I joked to her about wanting to have a piece of candy from her easter basket.  She looked at me for a moment and replied, “no…but I will give you a hug.”  Wow.  That will preach.

What a reflection of God’s grace.  We ask God for what we want, He gives us what we need.

Laurie and I spent the morning at the McKinney Housing Authority with Melissa Shaver and the team from Walking in Grace Ministries.  We sang, served, played, preached, and hid easter eggs.  But as usually happens, we were the ones that received the greatest blessing.

Melissa’s ministry is Walking in Grace (visit).  Their mission is to encourage God’s people to draw close to Him.  They are on mission to serve His people and share the love of Jesus Christ. She hopes her Bible study tools and GraceTalk devotionals will assist each person to follow Christ. They believe that a relationship with Jesus Christ will change your life…for eternity…and it will give you all you need to live life with purpose. Christ is all truth, righteousness and hope that each one of us need.

We saw that in action today!  We saw Him.  We were in His presence.

This is Jack.  He and his wife Crystal have been married for 35 years and they live at the MHA.  They both have terminal cancer.  They have stopped treatment.  They are waiting to die.  What a blessing it was today to pray with them and remind them that this isn’t their home and He is preparing a place for them both where there is no crying, sickness, or loss.

I had the joy of sharing out of Romans 6.  Reminding us all of the hope found in the empty tomb.  The hope of a Savior that feels our pain.  And the hope of an eternal life spent at the home we were always meant to have.

Thank you Melissa.  Thank you for surrendering to God’s call in your life and helping us learn to “walk in His grace.”
